Flexi Meets Midwifery for Podcast
October 23, 2007 at 11:04 pm (Uncategorized)
I am with Leigh and the midwifery staff to learn about podcasts. What the?
Podcasting is the distribution of media files, such as audio and videos, over the Internet using a type of web feed. Listeners subscribe to the podcast’s web feed for automated download to mobile devices and personal computers. The benefit of a podcast web feed over a standard web feed is that once the user subscribes the feed their podcast reader will automatically download any new media that is offered by the distributer. This concise explanation is from this link
There are other helpful explanations which include this page that Leigh suggested to the group but do a wee google or ride your favorite engine til you get to the bottom of it
So now i know what a podcast is and we had some interesting discussions about how it could be applied and we had a few laughs as the midwifery staff seem to be powered by a mixture of dedication and humour - very cool chicks.I did some video but I must have inadvertantly mucked around with my volume as ironically the audio was terrible.I am not yet sure how I will use podcasts, but it is not a case of if, but when and another resource for our teaching arsenal has been shared! Thanks for organising this workshop.
The steps for podcasting:
Search on line to see if there is an existing resource you can use
Create audio track, try audacity or borrow tape recorder from Damon who will convert your recording to an MP3
Store audio track on something like blip tv or archive.org
Link or embed the audio on your blog or in blackboard
