Flexi units for horticulture

Hi!
I am going to go thru a whole bunch of potential resources that Wendy has found and some that I have found and put the links into my blog with some ideas about how they can be used for learning activities…
The following ones can be used for unit 4 , part of this unit involves small engine maintenance:
The first one is quite funny and mostly involves what not to do when operating a lawnmower.I think this would make a good activity where we ask the learner to view the youtube and list three things that the dudes did correctly.
Answers:
Pre-operation safety check
Recognizing need for repairs
Team lifting or handling when taking mower to shed
Another suitable youtube resource is how to use a line trimmer. This is quite good because the operator does a lot of things right but at the same time she did a few things incorrectly, so point out 5 things she did correctly and 5 things that would not be deemed correct in terms of the way we teach unit 1667.
Ok so you get my drift so now i will continue to go thru the suggestions and extract ones we can use:
Unit4This is a good you tube regarding lawn mower maintenance and how to store a mower if you will not be using it for a few months, mostly relevant for areas that get high snowfall or prolonged periods where grass growth is minimal.
Personal protective equipment for chainsaw useThis you tube explains what PPE to wear when taking to the woods wid ya saw.
Chainsaw maintenanceThis is a site that has some good info on chainsaw maintenance-no moving pictures, just good ol written information.
Chainsaw use and maintenanceMore written info.
More chainsaw maintenanceAnd more written info.
Bird making chainsaw soundThis a cool you tube explaining the incredible Lyre bird from Australia. Not sure how we can make it a learning activity but it is just cool!
What personal protective equipment is lacking in this youtube video?Hmmm, this guy needs some guidance.
How to fix a fuel line in a chainsaw in 6 minutesBonus information.
Gus shows us how to use a depth gauge during Otago Polytechnic short course on chainsaw safety.
Gus explains why the anti vibration devices are important and how to recognize when these rubber gromets need replacing.
Gus tells us how important cutters are in terms of their position on the chain and especially where the chainsaw chain chains together.
Gus demonstrates the correct file angle to be used when sharpening a chainsaw chain….chain chain chain, chain of fools.
Gus shows how you can avoid cutting yourself when tensioning the chain.
